Update for 8 Tuff Miles February 19th
Here what’s happening leading up to race day. On Saturday Feb. 21st the Third & Final Litter Patrol will begin at 8 :00 AM. The focus will be on the first two miles of the course. For those who know my truck look for it parked on the side of the road and in the back you find heavy duty trash bags and a cooler full of cold water and Gatorade. Help yourself to those items and spend 15 or 20 minutes cleaning up this beautiful island of it un-necessary litter.
Next item on the list of what’s happening; The St. John Film Society presents, “Spirit of the Marathon”. This is a free showing of this movie at Pastory Gardens on Tuesday Feb. 24th. The evening will start at 7:00 pm with a short preview of 8 Tuff Miles film collected over the years presented by Moe Chabuz of Skinny Legs. 5 time winner of 8 Tuff Miles Jeremy Zuber will be on hand with words of inspiration and I personally plan on being there but after I finish a 3 ½ hour registration session at Baked in the Sun. I hope to be there by 9:00 pm. Long day for me.
Friday night, Paradiso Restaurant located at Mongoose Jct. presents the 8 Tuff Miles Carbo-load Dinner starting at 5:00 pm. To view the menu and make reservations by clicking the link on the home page of this website.
One bit of change for this year is the size of the cups along the course. A small mistake on my part but I think we are going to be OK. The size of the cups are 4 oz. The cups will be full and there are 12 water stations along the course this year and that makes 48 ozs. of water that you will be offered along the way. The cups were 7 oz size last year and I am just trying to make everyone aware of the change. It’s the handling of the cup that concerns me not so much the amount water.
Hopefully I will have another up date on other happening before race day.
Enjoy you time on St. John if you are visiting and if you live here make our running guest feel welcome by sharing information about 8 Tuff Miles and all that’s happening this week leading up to race day.
